WHO ARE WE?
Cuisine Lab is a Geneva association born in November 2016 which works for the socio-economic integration of refugees from the canton. We are fully part of the emerging movement of Swiss social gastronomy which promotes cuisine as a vector of integration and social cohesion.
OUR PROJECT
AGORA is Cuisine Lab's flagship project. It is a social restaurant developed in the heart of the Nations with the Terra et Casa Foundation to be a platform for economic inclusion for Geneva refugees who suffer from an unemployment rate close to 80%. This establishment, which will open its doors at CIGM in July 2022, has three objectives :
The social restaurant will initially make it possible to highlight the refugee populations too often stigmatized through their know-how and their rich and diversified culture.
AGORA is an opportunity to gather around a meal, or during inter-community events, refugees, international civil servants and other residents. All in a spirit of social cohesion and openness.
AGORA is also considered as a place of training in catering trades for refugees who will be able to work towards obtaining certificates attesting to their skills.
THE EXPECTED RESULTS
With AGORA, Cuisine Lab works on a long cycle of three years during which the following results are expected:
18 refugees employed and trained as kitchen workers;
36 refugee trainees trained in the basics of the profession of catering employee;
Over 50,000 delicious, refugee-like meals shared
