Exhibition of winning architectural projects for the Cité internationale du Grand Morillon

2018-03-26

In the presence of the Geneva city authorities, project partners, members of the jury and winner, on 26 March 2018 the Terra et Casa Foundation, in conjunction with Médecins Sans Frontières and the IHEID, inaugurated an exhibition featuring the various entries for the architectural competition organised in 2017 for a residential building of 88 apartments as part of the Cité internationale du Grand Morillon development.

Following three separate architectural competitions organised for the Cité internationale du Grand Morillon complex, an exhibition is being staged to present the various projects proposed for this site in response to the schedules of the three contracting authorities: the Terra et Casa Foundation (apartments for rent), the Institute of International and Development Studies (student accommodation) and Médecins Sans Frontières (headquarters building and administrative offices).

Visitors can examine the models created by the winners: Kengo Kuma and Associates (Tokyo), assisted locally by the CCHE Lausanne SA firm, for the Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID); the Bonnard Woeffray architectural firm (Monthey), for the Terra et Casa Foundation; and Steven Holl Architects (New York), in partnership with Justin Rüssli Architekten (Lucerne), for Médecins Sans Frontières.

This public exhibition, which exemplifies some of the major trends in contemporary architecture, also presents the project for the landscaping of the complex. The various exhibits can be viewed at the SICLI Pavillon, Salle Grand Dôme, Route des Acacias 45, Geneva, from Tuesday 27 March 2018 to Monday 2 April, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The exhibition was inaugurated by François Longchamp, President of the Council of State of the Republic and Canton of Geneva; Philippe Burrin, director of the IHEID; Michel Briefer, Chairman of the Board of the Terra et Casa Foundation; and Ralf de Coulon, Deputy Director General of Médecins Sans Frontières.
